Invasion 1944
2011

Invasion 1944 released for ArmA2!

The team here at Invasion 1944 is so exited to bring you news of our much anticipated ArmA2 release!

- Requirements -

  • ARMA2 v1.08

- Operation Arrowhead / Combined Operations Support -

Although the modification will load with Combined Operations it has not been optimised fully and therefore at this time we cannot fully support it. We hope to shift development over to Combined Operations with our first patch so full support is coming!
Operation Arrowhead (standalone) will remain unsupported due to our use of base ARMA2 units. The modification may work but we have not tested the standalone version at all.

- Changes from the ArmA1 release -

Several things were removed from this release because they were either causing problems that would have needlessly delayed a release, or could not be completed in time. Most prominent of these are the Waffen SS units, which were causing crashes. They will be added  back in a "Waffen SS" DLC package later on along with other content. Other things that could not be included right now will be either reintroduced in the DLC, or in a patch. The original single-player campaign was removed since it proved hard to port to ARMA2. It has been replaced by several MP missions, most notably "D-Day" and "D+1".

- Known issues -

Most of the bugs (80-90%) in this release are graphical bugs and RPT errors. We are aware of many of these bugs, and do intend to fix them in the next release. However if you do find any, or just want to give us some feedback, please visit our forums. You can also use our Dev-Heaven site to report bugs and issues directly to the team:

Silenced Weapons

Hey everyone! My name is Guy, I'm one of the modellers here at Invasion 1944. The past few weeks I've been working hard on some silenced weapons to please all you sneaky-beakies out there. I'm pleased to say they are finished and in the latest build. There is definitely something fun about sneaking around the Normandy countryside picking off German patrols...

Invasion 1944 - D-Day ArmA2

Coming Soon

Sad news about Albert "Monkwarrior"

We were just informed about the passing of Albert aka "Monkwarrior".

We got to know Albert about 6 months ago, after he and a few of his friends offered to help us with further developing our tanks, and the level of tank warfare in ArmA2 as a whole.

He was really passionate about WW2 and especially the tanks, and was always looking for ways to implement the most realistic tank behaviour as possible. Getting things the way they should be, or trying again until he got it right. I have rarely seen that much dedication, knowledge and energy in just one man.

Marcel met Albert in person when they traveled to Belgium together to visit a WW2 memorial day, during which Albert showed that we was as much a friendly guy in real life, always willing to help and teach others about their common interests, as he was online.

Our thoughts go out to Albert' wife and daughter, family and friends.

ArmA1 | LCVP 'Higgens' Landing Craft

Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP) or Higgins boat was a landing craft used extensively in World War II. The craft was designed by Andrew Higgins of Louisiana, United States based on boats made for operating in swamps and marshes. More than 20,000 were built, by Higgins Industries and licensees.

Typically constructed from plywood, this shallow-draft, barge-like boat could ferry a platoon-sized complement of 36 men to shore at 9 knots (17 km/h). Men generally entered the boat by climbing down a cargo net hung from the side of their troop transport; they exited by charging down the boat's bow ramp.

ArmA1 | M4A3 VVSS 76mm DD exhaust

The Sherman tank, made by Marcel, was the most prominent US tank of WW2, used throughout Operation Overlord, and the advance through Normandy.

Over 50.000 Sherman tanks were produced in all it's variants. The variants which we will be making are the M4A3 and M4A4 with 75mm, 76mm, and 105mm guns, which will include the Duplex Drive. Not as powerful as many of it's German counterparts, it relied on speed and strength of numbers to take on the Panzers.
